Meta (the parent company of Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp) has just updated its smart glasses, Ray-Ban Meta, to offer more hands-free capabilities. One of the new features allows users to share photos to Instagram Stories without needing a smartphone.
You simply say, “Hey Meta, share my last photo to Instagram,” if you’ve already taken the desired photo.
You can also say, “Hey Meta, post a photo to Instagram,” if you want to be more spontaneous and take a photo immediately to upload as a Story.
This method is perfect for those moments you don’t mind sharing with your followers in real-time without editing. Additionally, you can use Ray-Ban Meta to quickly play music on Amazon Music.
Just say, “Hey Meta, play Amazon Music” to start listening through the built-in open-ear audio system in these smart glasses. You can also adjust the volume with touch controls or voice commands. Excitingly, if you have a Calm app account and need to decompress, you can listen to meditation sessions with these smart glasses.
To do so, simply say, “Hey Meta, play Daily Calm.” Easy, right?
Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Rolling Out Gradually
All these features are being rolled out gradually, so not all users can utilize the latest features yet.
Last month, Meta also launched a multimodal AI feature for the Ray-Ban smart glasses after months of testing. This feature enables the smart glasses to act as a personal AI gadget beyond a smartphone, similar to the Rabbit R1 and Humane AI Pin.
Thanks to this update, you can now ask the smart glasses to describe objects in your environment, identify famous buildings, and read signs in various languages. The company has also given Ray-Ban Meta the ability to make hands-free video calls via WhatsApp and Messenger.
