Apple Introduces M4 Chip, 2024 iPad Pro Performance Goes Crazy!

Apple has just introduced its latest chip, the M4, embedded in the newest generation of iPad Pro. This processor promises significant performance and power efficiency improvements thanks to the latest 3nm fabrication.

The Apple M4 chip features a 10-core CPU configuration, with four performance cores and six efficiency cores. This combination of CPU cores promises a performance increase of up to 1.5 times faster than the previous iPad Pro series equipped with the Apple M2 chip.

However, according to Android Authority on Thursday (5/9/2024), the 10-core configuration in the 2024 iPad Pro is only found in the 1TB and 2TB variants. Meanwhile, the standard 256GB and 512GB variants are powered by the Apple M4 with a 9-core CPU consisting of three performance cores and six efficiency cores.

The Apple M4 also boasts a 10-core GPU with the same architecture as the M3 chip. The difference in this GPU from the previous generation lies in the use of the latest Dynamic Caching technology, which Apple claims can enhance graphics performance for gaming experiences akin to game consoles.

In addition to its hardware capabilities, Apple also highlights the AI capabilities in its latest M4 chip. These AI capabilities are accompanied by Apple’s most advanced Neural Engine to date, capable of performing trillions of operations per second.

Therefore, with the latest AI capabilities, the iPad Pro can run applications faster. Not only does the M4 chip improve performance, but it also has enhanced power efficiency to provide longer battery life. All of the capabilities of the Apple M4 in the 2024 iPad Pro version are said to help professional users enhance their productivity.

Apple Introduces M4 Chip, 2024 iPad Pro Performance Goes Crazy! 5

After much anticipation, the iPad Pro 2024 was finally announced by Apple during a live streaming event titled “Let Loose” on Tuesday night, May 7, 2024.

The iPad Pro 2024 comes in two screen sizes—like the iPad Air 2024—11 inches and 13 inches. Unlike the previous generation, this new Apple tablet features a fresher design. The Cupertino-based company also incorporates top-of-the-line hardware and significant improvements in the display panel of both versions of the iPad Pro 2024.

According to circulating rumors, Apple is using OLED displays in both of its new tablets, referring to them as Ultra Retina XDR Displays.

The improvement in these displays is substantial, as in the previous iPad Pro series, the technology giant only used miniLED panels. With this new panel, Apple claims that the display of their new iPad Pro will show deeper blacks, richer saturation, and enhanced contrast.

It is explained that this new Apple tablet display has a tandem OLED panel structure capable of producing a brightness level of 1,000 nits and 1,600 nits when displaying HDR content. Interestingly, the company did not use the M3 chipset for this new iPad Pro lineup. Instead, Apple has paired it with the M4 chip, which is claimed to have 50 percent faster performance compared to the M2.

Both of Apple’s latest tablets could be pre-ordered starting from May 7, 2024, and were only available for purchase at Apple Stores a week later, precisely on May 15.

For Apple fanboys interested in purchasing, the company offers four variants with different storage capacities and connectivity options. Check them out below.

  • iPad Pro 2024 11-inch WiFi: USD 999 or IDR 16 million
  • iPad Pro 2024 11-inch WiFi + Cellular: USD 1,199 or IDR 19.2 million
  • iPad Pro 2024 13-inch WiFi: USD 1,299 or IDR 20.8 million
  • iPad Pro 2024 13-inch WiFi + Cellular: USD 1,499 or IDR 24.1 million

As for the iPad Air, this tablet is priced starting from USD 599 (around IDR 9.6 million) for the 11-inch version and USD 799 (around IDR 13 million) for the 13-inch display.
